The bedroom is a place where you want to be comfortable, and your flooring should help that goal. With hardwood you have a material that is warm, and natural, with unique features in each plank, adding a distinct beauty to the bedroom setting.
But at the same time hardwood is, well, pretty hard. It isn't quite as strict as stone or tile, but it's not nearly as soft as carpet or cork, so it tends to fall in the middle. This can be softened to some extent through the use of small carpets and area rugs, situated in various locations around the room. You also have issues with hardwood being cold in the winter, especially in chilly regions.
So is hardwood too hard for a bedroom? The answer is that it depends. Some people really love the look and feel of these materials, and will be soothed and comforted by their presence. Others will be looking for more in the way of creature comforts, and so will trend towards carpeting and other, softer choices.
Where do you fall? Are you all about the hardwood in your bedroom, or do you prefer something a little more plush? We'd love to hear from you.
