In my latest article I kick off another round of informational explorations about hardwood flooring. this one explores the usage of this material in a bathroom, and its dubious wisdom. There are of course water concerns, humidity concerns, and problems with mold and mildew that will have to be overcome.
At the same time some people insist that they love hardwood in their bathrooms, and that the extra maintenance is worth it for the look and feel of something real, and natural beneath their feet. So of course, there is a little bit of a controversy around this issue.
One alternative is to use vinyl strips printed to look like hardwood. Vinyl is a man made material that is impervious to moisture, and can be printed to look very realistic, although it won't feel real. You can also purchase ceramic tiles which are similarly cut and printed to resemble hardwood.
