When you talk about hardwood flooring you aren't referring to a single look or feel. There are actually hundreds of different species, which are divided into grade, cut, and size, all of which can have an important impact on how the floor ends up looking. In a living room you are generally going to want something that is warmer, and more inviting, so that family and guests will feel welcomed into the space.
In my latest article I take a look at hardwood options that can be employed in living rooms, and discuss some of the issues that may arise: Hardwood In Living Rooms. I also explore techniques such as antiquing, and inlays, which can take a simple natural material and unite it with the designs and creativity of an artistic hand.
So do you have hardwood in your living room? There's a lot of controversy about this material and how it weathers over time so we'd love to hear about your experiences in the comments below.
